Today we presented a donation of £1,000 towards an appeal hoping to raise £2.7 million to build a dedicated research facility at Evelina London Children’s Hospital. London Fire Brigade Deputy Assistant Commissioner Andy Roe, whose son Zaki was treated at Evelina London, is behind a once-in-a-lifetime Zip Wire event next Friday 2 December, set to raise £1 million towards the appeal.
He had the idea to rig up a zip wire across the Thames from St Thomas’s Hospital to Victoria Tower Gardens, next to the Houses of Parliament. The event is also part of London Fire Brigade’s 150th anniversary celebrations.
