This week our glorious leader, John Stallard, brought in his latest project from his painting desk. This time it’s Napoleonic Spanish Artillery. As the boss he gets what he wants ahead of release but hopefully these models be available for sale in the not-too-distant future…
The Spanish artillery varied in quality but performed well on the battlefield. The Spanish army, however, was poorly funded so horses were a rarity. This meant that bulls or bullocks pulled most cannons and limbers during the Napoleonic Wars. The barrels are water barrels, not gunpowder barrels. These would provide water to cool and swab the cannon barrel. The driver figure has been made from the spare ensign figure that you get in our Spanish regiment box set.
